The 13.5 Motor that comes with the XBR is not sintered which you may or may not care about. Secondly, there may be some issues with XBR and compatibility with certain Spektrum radios. I would ask Novak about that. A guy at our track did have an issue. You also have a motor limit on the XBR. I think it's like 8.5? Again, check with Novak. If I were you, I would spend the extra $40 for the GTB and not worry about it.

I have the XBR and a 8.5 motor. I bought it for club racing, and because it has lipo cutoff, and does brushed motors. I have had no issues with it. I bought the sintered rotor kit for it, and it really opened up the gearing range, and dropped temps dramatically.

If you are planning to race, select a motor with a sintered rotor. The EX motors, with bonded rotors, were neither designed nor intended for serious racing.

We wanted to continue to offer a motor with bonded rotors because some local tracks / events do not allow the sintered rotors.

Care to elaborate on that?

I race with my XBR 8.5, Suits me perfectly, Or so I thought, What difference would the recommended rotor make?
