what would be the better esc overall with stock-class racing in mind? If it makes any diff, the hitec's wires are 13awg and the duratrax's are 14awg.

For what you will be using for the Hitech would be best over all though I would look at a Novak GTS or the LRP. They are true digital controlers for only $10 to $20 more and will be better suited for your or your brothers racing needs as his skill imporves.

Thats a good one as well and I would probably get that if I was choosing between the Duratrax and Hitech.

the hitec one can do 10 turn motors, while the duratrax can only do 12 turns. although probably both would get very hot using mods with that low of turns.

I really dont know much either brand of ESC. I would recommend either LRP or Novak for ESC's. I run Novak for a long time. They make a good product and have great customer service.

i would go with the DuraTrax IntelliSpeed 12T Modified Reverse ESC.i have a few duratrax esc's and they are very good.

well i guess either is fine i suppose? I mean the specs show the duratrax to be better (turn limit aside). I just wanna know if it makes it THAT much better than the hitec...

K Look guys. Can you please read before you post. It gets annoying reading IDIOT type posts because people dont read.

Syber-Does your track even ALLOW reverse in racing classes? Some dont.
Out of those 2 I would use the HFX in stock due to the weight of the esc.
The specs are NOT that far off from one another.
An option for later might be to sell BOTH of these esc's and use the money to get a better 1 ESC for racing.
Goodluck and I hope you have fun racing.

Les
