Scale CORR Truck

Starting my project tomorrow at school its gonna be a 1/10th CORR style truck built to the exact scale except running a electric motor

my plans are
1/4in aluminum chassis
4 link rear suspension
independent front suspension
bypass shocks on all 4 corners
dual stage shocks
solid rear axle(not to sure on that yet)
scale roll cage
either F-150 or Silverado body

not to sure on tires ill have to make a trip to toys r us soon

when i finish it ill be running a novak GTS spectrum 2.0 and at leat a 15 turn motor

either myself or my schools machine shop will be making all the parts

any suggestions? since this is my first car ill be building completely from sratch

my chassis plans are here: http://www.corracing.com/pdfs/Pro2Chassis.pdf

ill post pics through out the project

Or you could just buy it from thundertech

Wow, I saw the "Desert racer" prototype but I never heard about that version.

I thought it looked pretty sweet, I would guess that it will sell pretty well, but i doubt that it will really catch on and im sure there wont be much racing of them.

it looks nice and looks like i might be borrowing some ideas from it but i want to get my hands dirty on this one plus i get a grade in shop for it so why not? itll be cheaper to and i can get everything exactly the way i want it

I say go for the solid rear axle, only way to finish off the scale part and run 4-link. Use a Chevy body also, if you put a Ford on it, its gonna break on every outing like the full scales!

There is no one best manufacture out there.

Turbo Joe 09-11-2007 02:59 PM

That's funny, because the non-Ford teams I deal with all have Fords for pre-runners or they use Ford suspensions under their "Brand X" or "Brand T" trucks...LOL :sneaky:

$rusty$ 09-11-2007 03:01 PM

Yes, there are pro's and cons to every truck or car, but is there a truck/car that is absolutely perfect? No.

LosiSpeedDemon 09-11-2007 03:45 PM

well i was planning on the 4-link since its on the full scale but ive decided on the ford body since it looked better than the chevy

ive git the design finallized and some other little stuff im cutting the chassis tomorrow and deciding on the motor position and how im gonna make the axle probly going to see machine shop and seeing if my teachers or the seniors can weld up my chassis since i cant cut it out of one piece on the plasma cam ill try and get some pix up as soon as i get it cut and fabricated

jumpjunkie 09-11-2007 04:35 PM

That would be a fun class! Like Primus said though there will unfortunatly not be many for racing but still, would be neet to see a class run.

LosiSpeedDemon 09-12-2007 12:35 PM

i figure if i build one and leave it t my LHS for a few days everyone who sees it will want one so we might get a class going

my chassis should be completly ready by friday and then ill have to finalize my rollcage and axle and a-arms and have them made up im hoping its done for december

LosiSpeedDemon 09-12-2007 02:39 PM

another quick question anyone know were i can get plans for a solid rear axle? i cant find any and dont kno how to deisign my own

primusblowsgoat 09-12-2007 02:43 PM

If you can find a copy of a tamiya TXT-1 TLT-1 or Juggernaut you can get some design ideas.

Or you just buy the completed axle on ebay and design your chassis around it, its what most of the Custom Crawler guys do.

a quick google turned this up

Heres the one off the tamiya High lift
