Default Gearing starting point on T4 for Mamba Max 5700

Looking for input on what you guys are starting with for gearing on a 5700 mamba unit in a T4? Also, what temps are you seeing.

Thanks!

I'm not for sure, I never found a satisfactory gearing for mine. I run from 14 to 20 and it still run hot, I did find that 14 did offer the best balance (160 Motor, 164 esc and 160 batteries) this was in 95*+ humid weather. I was also told that if the batteries didn't go over 70*ambient i was ok, but i didn't like it, they were 4400 NIMH's. I run a 4600 with 2s lipo's and am much happier with it, My temps on the motor are 170*, esc 120 and batteries were not even warm, this is with 23/84 gearing and i'm told than i may be undergeared (hot motor/cool esc=too low geared) so i am still looking for the best gear.

hey ,15 to 17 will likely be what you'll need. I run 16/87 and when the track is 80* it runs 155 to 160*,esc 125-135,if the track is 110to 120*(sandy track)the temps go up by that 40* difference in the track,so 195ish,esc still cooler at 150-160*. I'm still waiting on a 15 pinion to see temps when the track is super hot. Dan

Thanks for the info guys. I started with a17 tooth pinion. I am going to go 1 down and temp it again and see how it goes. It didn't feel bad and the temps didn't get that high as what you are reporting, I think 130ish on the motor max.

I'm at 18 I think.... I'll check it and let ya know if it's different.

All I know for sure is that it's fun to watch the front wheels keep lifting in the air coming out of corners

Sometimes I get on it a bit too much on the front straight and stand it right back on the motor plate... that's not good
