Talking LiPO question

I am looking into going LiPO soon for my B4. I've got a LRP Sphere ESC connected to a Vector X-11 6.5 Brushless motor. The version of the Sphere I have doesn't directly support LiPO, so I have to get a voltage regulator. My question is what are some good quality regulators to use on it, and where in the blue blazes can I pick one up?

I'm assuming by voltage regulator you mean low-voltage indicator. No voltage regulation is required.

Apogee one:

Novak one:

I have both. Apogee alerts by a loud buzzer and led. Novak alerts by throttle interrupts. The Apogee also chirps after being connected after awhile so you remember to disconnect the battery. Either one will do the trick.

Default thanks!

That definitely gives me some food for thought. I've simply gotten tired of dealing with NIMH

If you have a 2.4 GHz radio, you can use a switching voltage regulator to power your receiver. The switching supplies are more efficient, but I've heard they interfere with 75 MHz radios. I have no problem with my 2.4 gig nomadio.

Here are a couple switching regulators:

Mate , I have been wondering the same thing. Would love one to use on my cyclone d4. Tell me, would the lipo run well off an lrp sphere competition esc? Do I need any additional electronics to make things work efficiently? Also, are we allowed to use these lipo's in modified competition yet? Just wondering before I go out and spend a fortune on new nimh packs.

You need novak lipo cutoff

if the pack down to 5v the pack inflate and lost in capacity

Depends on the LRP Sphere Competition I guess... the newer ones do have a LiPo cut-off. It probably wouldn't hurt having a nice big Capacitor hooked up to your receiver too... LRP Sphere ESCs are have known to be notoriously problematic thanks to their low BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit).

At this point LiPo is usually legal during Club races but often illegal in big sanctioned races by IRMAR, ROAR, EFRA, & FEMCA (unless as a demo class only). Hope all goes well though and best of kuck with it anyway!

Everybody wants to buy hard case, just make your own.
fold ali sheet into the shape of your lipo, easy,

Carbon fiber reinforcing tape or weave, soak in epoxy resin and wrap the pack then cling wrap for a gloss finnish, when resin hard remove cling wrap.easy. for this dont expect to get back inside pack easy

check out HB D4 thread (damn yanky) got a nice d4 lipo setup.

It will do the same thing if you discharge at too many amps for to long.
like over 10-15c depending on pack rating. Use a WATTS UP meter to check your discarge rate. very handy meter its alittle like a dyno for your car.
