Default Showdown time "Sphere LRP versus Novak GTB"

OK Time to let it all hang out.

I have a Sphere LRP comp ESC and 5.5 Vector brushless bonded and it rules. (Yes one blew up but this one is fine!!!) Catch me if you can!

No problem, I have a Mamba Max Esc, 5700 motor, running on a 11.1v lipo. My tires are constantly comming unglued BTW the GTB is a good ESC too, have one in my TC, I just wanted the mamba to run offroad with the high power lipo's.

Are you going to do an on track side by side comparison of these two or is this just another genital waving competition thread?

It's actually an "I have it, so it is the best one, thread."

By the way, I will catch your "bonded" Vector with my "sintered" GTB anyday. I do it all the time...

Lastly, I have run both of them so if you want MHO, the LRP was a good ESC, but it was not as punchy (probably due to the bonded rotor) and it thermalled more often. I was always able to finish a races with it, but maybe not the pack. Whereas, I could with the GTB. Of course, it's hard to compare apples to apples. I was running what were supposed to be comparable systems in both a Lazer ZX5 and a BJ4WE. Also, the LRP did have native LIPO support from day one while Novak did not add LIPO cutoff until recently. Bottom, line is, see what other people are having success with and go with that. They are both decent systems from reputable manufacturers if you ask me.

**Please note, this is only my recreational user opinion, not fact.

novak warrantied about 5 gtb systems for me and it was all software related stuff. early thermalling etc. one even went up in smoke.

yes my car was geared correctly, i was runninga 4.5 system in a bj4 we.

i think now a lot of people are running the lrp sphere with the novak sintered motors which is probably the route i would take. if i were forced to run all novak again, i would probably do the sensor wire mod to prevent thermalling altogether.

i'm perfectly happy with my gtb system with 7.5. i still melt slipper pads with it, and baloon tires to explosions ( xxx-ke). lol, i have plenty of torque with this system. i have not had problems with thermaling, in fact, it runs much cooler than a brushed.

+ 1 for novak!

Tried them both. The GTB is still on my Truck. Has never let me down. The Lrp is still waiting to be sent in for service. Had them both well over a year, the LRP lasted 2 months. The GTB wont quit.
The GTB comes with a fan a capacitor every possible profile you could ever need.

Novak has all the motor speeds you can ever want, all with in the same compatibility.
Its the smoothest throttle response of the three brushless systems Ive tried.
Runs cooler and is more efficient for better run times.
3 rotors to choose from. No thermal problems with the sintered rotors.

I really like mine from racing to bashing. Its a great system and the customer service is second to none.

No, dont think so..

I am about to buy a brushless system for my Losi CR, im wondering the same thing, what one to get, do both systems thermal out then? to protect the motor/esc? does the esc thermo out when it has a brushed motor on it?

Isn't that the same thing as a 'genital waving competition thread' ?

Also... YGPM

BSchorr, Are you going to race your XXXCR? I can tell you that the mamba, and GTB are both a little tall to mount on the sides without hitting the body. In oderer to get to the USB port on the mamba you need velco which makes the mamba tall and rub the body, GTB...Well the cooling fan hits. You could do a LRP, or Novak XBR wihout hitting.
I do have a Mamba in my XXXCR but had to mount it to the battery strap with 2X tape, it sits perfectly in the cab part of the body so getting to the USB is easy, down side is higher CG, but since I'm running a maxamps 11.1v 4000Mah for fun it doesnt matter anyway.

Had them all, tried them all... I have 3 spheres, and sold the GTB w/ 3.5 last weekend. I naver really cared for LRP, but the spheres seem to be a lot smoother, than the violent novak. I use novak motors (13.5, 10.5,6.5, 3.5) as well, one Neo One(6.5) too.............. My unprofessional opinion

THEY ARE ALL GOOD.
Funny.
For some its preference, for some its I had bad luck with one or the other.

Bottom line they are all good. I own all 3, I prefer the GTB.
Had the best luck and lap times with the GTB.
