Default Best NEU Motor on 4s LiPo for E-Revo Racer

Anyone have experience with Neu motors in an MT?
I have a Gorillamax E-Revo G2r that needs a Neu motor. This is purely a race machine. I'm looking for controllable speed and torque. I have the Neu 1512 2D/F in my 1/8 buggy conversion that I love. It seems like it would be a good motor for an MT too, but a lot of guys are using the 1515 series of motors in MT's.
I will be running 4s lipo and would like to use smaller pinions (10T-12T Mod1) if possible to avoid cogging. I don't need anymore than 40mph for top speed. At 2700kv, the 1515 1.5d/F looks good to me, but explain to me why the 1512 2D/F (2600kv) would be a bad choice. If it's got enough power for my buggy, why not an MT?
Just to inform, I'm looking for this motor because the 1/8 shaft on my HVMaxx 6.5 snapped...Thanks for your help.
