The new Vortex Brushless motors are amazing! Very Very smooth, consistent power the whole race, and NO WORK! You will not be disapointed with these motors.

I have ran both vortex and novack. The orion vortex are a much smoother motor than the novack. I run the 10.5, I tried all combos using the novack-novack and the lrp-vortex and mixed the two.
the novack was a bit punchy perhaps with older batteries this would be ok. But overal the lrp-vortex combo was better in my opinon much more

I'll put my recommendation on the Orion / Peak Motors.

Remember it's the same motor (Peak/Orion) so if one is out of stock grab the other.

I run the 7.5 in my 4wd BJ4, and it's been great. Very smooth, with huge amounts of torque.

One thing, immediately turn the drag brake off your ESC, with the Sinterered rotor it has it's own drag due to the magnet strength.

I just got the 10.5 for my 2wd Kyosho RB5. My lathe days are almost over..

Orion seems to be a great company so I think I will try it out. I will take my chances on the fan, which i think is a great idea because if a motor gets too hot the magnets lose strength and there goes your power. It's nice to be able to run it sensorless too. One thing I do know is I will not go back to brushed. I ran the crap out of that motor all year (below freezing, snow, 95 and humid) and if you can stand the noise of broken bearings (or get new ones once in a great while) a bl motor could run for many moons.

Your definently gonna want to consider getting a sensor based speedo. Even the non-competition sphere. The sensorless units just arent smooth enough.

I was afraid of that! I have only tried a sensored novak once for a little bit out in the parking lot. I did notice better response and consistency. I have gotten used to the sensorless feel, maybe i forgot how good sensored feels.

Lets put it this way, I can drive a sensored system a lot better then the sensorless system that I currently run in my cars. Is not a major deal with a 4wd buggy, but it makes a huge differnce in the 2wd classes in the dirt (sensorless gets on the power a little harder, but it can sometimes have a slight delay which can make it hard to drive)

Not really, so far I believe only one guy has had a problem with a "crunchy one". Joe has had one for quite some time with no problems
I'll keep my fingers crossed

There is no hope, Lewis has it. I do realize there is a mathematical chance...but come on.

I run a sensorless (Mamba) motor/speedo, and I've never had any delay. Actually, the only real difference between sensorless and brushed is the increase in power, at least in my experience. My brother said that some spread spectrum radios can cause a delay... I don't know. Maybe it's part of how the speed control is set up.
