Limiting technology has become commonplace in full size motorsports. It's still racing, but can be done at slightly lower speeds. I agree with the idea. If you hand a newbie an electric car that either pulls wheelies at the slightest touch of the throttle or is so fast that their reaction time can't keep up with it, you're going to find VERY FEW people that will accept the challenge to learn to run the car.
They still get faster, at least F1. I believe this year a track record was reset that had been held by Schumacher since 2004. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I haven't been keeping up on it like I used to.

You are right, at times they are still going faster. But, without those restrictions, how much faster would them be going? 30mph staightline? 3 seconds a lap?

I had an interesting conversation with the ROAR President this weekend at the ROAR Gas Truck Nats about the Li-po Brushless Truck Class and it sounds like it will be a class next year.

you mean because of lipo/brushless rules currently? because one would have to assume that if they begin to allow them in the truck class they would allow them in buggy as well. or is there a different reason you can't do roar events?

Lou for me ,

Roar still will not allow me to race at their events with my Electric buggy with a Li-Po battery....

I guess I dont understand. I am saying that if they change the rules for truck and allow lipo batteries, wont they do the same with the buggies? or is there a rule that wont allow you and only you to not run lipo regardless of everyone else?

Lou , Roar is offering this endurance truck class as the only option if you wish you race with a Li-Po ...

The other class`s ?
Roar will not allow anyone to race with a Li-po....

Ask um why Lou .....

I will get a kick if they even reply and give you a reason why they won`t allow again next year ....

Everyone knows that batteries are big business. They are a comodity item like tires. Lipo's end that.

I believe ROAR will continue with the 20 minute LIPO Truck class too, the cats out of the bag already.

I wonder if this type of class is spreading anywhere else? We have a 10 minute truck lipo class at our track now. Besides where Craps races, are any other tracks doing this same thing?

SRS in AZ is starting this class as well.

I was hoping ROAR would make LiPo legal across the baord... not just in ONE class...

If ROAR doesn't legalize LiPo for all classes next year....I will be missing an awful lot of bigger races that still base their rules on ROAR. One class...Pro Truck, or whatever it's being called currently, is not enough. No more NiMh for me after this year.

Craps - I would be very interested in hearing about that conversation....

Just to let you know, ROAR didn't offer the class at the elecric off road nats to get people off their backs..... LOL ROAR did it to see WHO was interested in pursuing a NEW class and WHO would support it.

Yes, a new class for now.... will it be supported by the racers? In all types of racing? Sure, talk on RC Tech is easy.. and George Cherry is always threatening to become a ROAR member again.. but serious... will that ever happen??? LOL

I enjoyed the main at the off road nats... brought fuel racing mentality to electric racing.... which right now with off road fuel exploding in popularity.. that's the answer to electric racing. IMO.....
