Hey all,

Just curious. What is the fastest 4 wheel buggy made? Thought I'd ask.
Thx,

Mathew

Put a 3.5 in all of them and find out........hehe

What do you mean fastest? Top end speed, or what? All of them have been shown to be capable race buggies.

Acceleration and top end are completely different things.

If you gear it really high, the acceleration won't be all that great but the top end with be blazing compared to a lower geared car that will accelerate well but have less top end.

It's basically going to come down to gearing and motor. The car won't really matter that much if you go with one of the mainstream 4WD buggies. Maybe the x11 is a little lighter, but do you really want to pay $600 for a car that *might* be 1-2 mph faster than a $300 Kyosho, Academy, or soon to be B44?

Top end speed and acceleration are two very different things!

The whole crop of current 4wd cars are very, very close in terms of speed. Like K_King alluded to, acceleration and speed really come down to what electronics - what motor and battery - you put into whichever car you choose.

I think the shaft drives out there (JConcepts, Hot Bodies, Predators, Kyosho, and Academy) seem have a touch more acceleration out of the corners. At least, they feel more direct and ballistic coming out of corners, but you also get a bit of a torquing effect. Belt drive cars (Losi's, X Factory, Tamiya, Yokomo) feel a little smoother, as the belt(s) give a tiny bit accelerating and braking. I don't think there's really an obvious advantage overall for either design - all have proven competitive on the track in the right hands, and choosing a car is really a personal choice of which you like the best.

I believe the Losi XXX-4 has one of the lowest tranny ratio's @ 2.1:1 so technicaly it might be possible to get slightly more speed out of it, but it will really come down to gearing/motor & batteries.

Every single competition ready 4wheel kit will be exactly, to the nats-azz the same speed. Dead set the same. Why you ask? Because none of them come with any electronics.
