Default Best Brushless Motor for B4?

Guys,
Im getting a new B4 from my LHS and the new GTB 1711. I have that new Nov1711 in my xray sedan and I love it, best ESC i ever bought .

My LHS has the 6.5r novak motor in stock, but Im thinking I may want the 4.5 or maybe the 5.5 brushless?

Suggest you get the Lrp X-11 7.5 for your best performance and drivability...

Maybe you can help me out Wild Cherry.

I ran a Reedy Neo 2* (7.5) in my B4 for one year and I loved it. I recently switched over to the new LRP X-11 7.5 with optional sintered rotor and it feels completely different than the Neo 2*. It feels like it has a little less top end so I had to turn my throttle profile up a notch on my 2006 Sphere Comp and I had to turn down my drag brake setting a notch or I'd spin out on the sweeper turn off the straight-away. Maybe it's just me trying to get used to the new motor, but it feels like I took a step backward instead of taking a step forward. Please tell me I'm wrong and I just need more track time with the new motor...

Need to know your gearing selection ....

Bet you it`s just that .....

The X-11 is smoother and has a better top end than the Neo....

The 4.5 will be WAY too much motor for the B4 if you plan on racing it—it's equal to am 8 turn brushed motor! For a 2wd buggy, a 6.5 is MORE than enough motor. I run the 6.5 in mine, and it's a blistering fast car when geared properly. I'm considering even chasing down a 7.5 for most off road tracks. Anything less than a high-bite clay indoor track (slick tires), and a 7.5 would be a great choice.

Don't over motor... you'll regret it.

Right now I'm running 19/81 on a medium sized/medium traction track. I've run 20/84 and 19/81 in the past with my Neo 2* and I liked how 20/84 felt better and my Sphere ran cooler with that ratio. However, 19/81 is closer to the suggested ratio for the 7.5 and it's probably better for a medium sized track. Do you think I should try 20/84, keep practicing with 19/81, or use a different ratio?

get a 13.5, it will almost feel like a 19turn. you will get long run times and good speed.

13.5 runs almost the same as 27 turn brushed. I ran one all winter season. Go with the 7.5, it should be more than enough.

Just for fun I tried the novak 4.5 in my b4. It's just way to much motor. The 6.5 would still be overkill on most tracks. Even with the slipper set alittle loose it was hard to keep the front tires on the ground. Several times when I got on the throttle the car simply flipped onto its roof.

Either the LRP or Novak 7.5's will be your best bets. I run the Novak 7.5 in my B4.
