i always stripped the spur gears on my rustler, 5 to be exact. so, keep a good stash of spurs, and you'll be good. i had this problem with the old version of the rustler. the new verison with the new slipper clutch might not have that. i dont know.

i have to agree that it is prettymuch bulletproof (not literaly) anyway. i dremeled the arms to be lighter, and crashed very hard, and they still held up. thats why the rustler's a great beginner truck.

are you putting a brushless in it?...

rustys are great for beginners, and when you get bored of 30mph with the stocker motor, you starp a mamba into it and you have the most insane ST ever!

1. Aluminum idler gear
2. RPM hubs.
3. RPM front bumper
4. Bearings in place of bushings.
5. RPM pinion/motor cover

OR do a fastlane aluminum conversion.

Since upgradeing mine to the 7700 I added alluminum shocks front and rear, aluminum idler, upgraded the turnbuckles, modified duratrax alluminum arms, axles and carriers, bearings, and any plastic piece left is from RPM.

beanie - those trucks are near indestructable stock, but with that, you probly saved yourself from all possibly breaks

Yeah, my rustler was bulletproof out of the box. It is a bit sloppy to drive, but built like a tank. I broke twice the amount of parts on my dark impact in one day of driving, compared to six months of driving the rusty...

The parts are designed to flex on the rusty instead of breaking. This makes it less precise in handling, but it's a basher, not a competition truck.

and a serious basher it is. things are tanks. but i have to wonder how you broke a lot of parts on your dark impact too.... i drive mine like its my revo(hit anything in its path and jump as high as possible, and simply beat the stuff out of it) and it still hasnt broken anything
