Default budget 2wd buggy

hey there. Im looking at a couple buggys and can't decide which one to get.
Ive have a bought a buck 30 to spend on a kit . the two buggys i have been looking at are the duratrax evader bx pre built and the tamyia sand viper kit . both are around 120 for the kit with esc motor. i have a brushless system i plan to run novak 5800 . and my own radio gear. I know both of these buggys won't keep up on the race track. but im back yard racing with my buddys . dont like snapping parts all the time i need strengh thats why these where my choices. i have no need for a comp style buggy . so what i want to know is is the pros and cons of the two buggys any help would be great thanks

If you have a Novak Brushless System and your own Radio gear you are better off searching ebay for a Team Associated RC10B4 Chassis or even check the for sale section on here

Cheers

Yeah, I had an Evader a BX Pre-built and I hated it. There is so much wrong with that car. I agree with Drift Buggy, The B4, even the team version is the best way to go. You can find them pretty cheap on Ebay and even here if you look long enough for probally about same price as your other two choices.

For racing I'd avoid the duratrax buggy also. The car's OK but the tranny's don't hold up long. I picked up an old Losi BK1 for $70 and that's twice the buggy the evader could ever be

I have both an Evader BX Pro and a Tamiya Sand Viper.

I used to race the Evader BX Pro that I handed down to my son when I got a FT B4.

The Sand Viper used to be raced by son until he got the Evader BX Pro.

Don't bother with the Sand Viper. I didn't like it at all. The primary purpose I got it was for my son to learn to build his own kit.

As far as I know the Evader BX Pro fares better than the regular Evader BX in terms of durability. However, a few things still need to be done to the Evader BX Pro to make them more bullet proof.

You need to replace the motor plate as the stock ones bend too easily.

You need to put hinge pin brace on the rear (I fabricated my own from aluminum sheet) to avoid breaking the rear arm mounts.

The tranny needs "hop-ups" too. Duratrax aluminum idler gear, B2 diff gear, B2 diff rings, 2 5x8mm bearings.

A lot of work, he he, but after the mods above, the car had been holding up well to my son's driving abuse and he runs an SS5800 on it.

I'd have to go with the recommendations of the guys here. Go with at least a Team Kit B4 on eBay.

Search ebay for a B4 or any version of the XXX. They can be found pretty cheap these days. You'll have the champ caliber platforms in both.
