Default E-Revo update

Some pictures of my E-Revo next to my Nitro Revo. Since my last post here I have changed out the battery trays, added battery straps, 1/8 scale front/rear diffs, repaired the Novak HV 4.5 rotor, moved the rx to the front. So far it is running great.

well i might be putting off my brushless revo project. after traxxas just released the new VXL brushless system in the rustler, im guessing that they might be coming out iwth a new brushless maxx or revo. so i might wait around to see if they come out with one. looks great man. have you clocked it with the 4.5 yet?

That's cool. I like how you kept the original trans and motor placement. Would be cool to see some video of that in action, I hate to ask something so dumb .. but .. is it fast?

On the other end of the spectrum, you might be interested in my e-revo conversion, its a crawler : http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71543

Have not clocked it with the HV 4.5 yet. I am still working out the gearing, it was way to low (40T spur, 13T pinion and close ratio tranny). I have also added 1/8 scale diffs that also have lower gearing than stock (43/13T). But a while back when I had the HV 6.5 in it I ran it by a radar gun with 40T spur and a 15T pinion, stock diffs, cheapo batteries and after 100 feet it hit 38mph. So I am guessing the HV 4.5 will run in the mid 40's in the same distance. I am not looking for total all out speed, since I race on a track that is tight and technical.

yeah. i would probably gear it a little lower, and try to keep the wheelies while making top speed around 50. thats a real cool truck though man. how did youmount the motor on the stock engine mounting spot? could i see a pic of that wit hthe motor off please? thanks in advance

Streetracer, here are some pictures. There a a few mounts out there, one of the more popular ones allows you to keep your stock Revo nitro engine mount in place to help reduce chassis flex. This mount places the motor up high and I wanted the mount to be flush with the chassis, which makes it even stronger and lowers the CG. Chassis flex is your worst enemy, any flex will ruin spur gears or snap the pinion off. I had to mill the stock Revo nitro mount flat, which then allowed me to mount the brushless motor flush with the chassis. It is very strong and flex free.

Here is the original motor mount I started with.

Here is the mount installed in the Revo

close-up of mount. I have since modded this one to add a rear motor brace.

thanks man. i dont really want the gorillamaxx xhassis, simply because tis not custom, and thats the best part about starting new projects, making your own(slightly i guess) creations. will your truck do wheelies at any speed? ive heard that the novak systems would lift the wheels off the ground at basically any speed
