Cool, make a chassis with out battery slots! to run the maxamps packs you must put a "sub floor" down to keep the battery from molding to the chassis and pushing through the holes. I have seen one short out because the battery became deformed.

That's the one thing I am keeping an eye on - is the battery going to deform over time since it does not have a "hard" covering. So far it has not and like I said earlier, I don't have it torqued down that hard ........

Make sure you also check out www.oople.com
They have a Tamiya Buggy Section.

You may have to register to see some pics.
They have an electrics install thread for the 501X with some guys running Lipo/Brushless setups.
Its a tight fit, but they have a ton of pics with different solutions posted.
I started a thread here because there is not many UK 501X drivers.

i am going to start off with a chassis kit for the 501x that will be lipo specific.it is going to be all the carbon chassis components.i will reconfigure the battery retention to accomodate the lipo's along with a battery pocket on each side to fit lipo saddle packs.the pockets will be 1.5mm deep and there will be no through pockets so the battery is well supported.i will start putting the car together this weekend.i just got home with it now so i will start working on the assembly today.once its all together i will see what i need to do.pics of existing lipo layouts and ideas are all welcome.i will follow this with kits for other brands also.

So your jumping into off-road products now?
I've noticed a decline in on-road somewhat.
I myself lost all interest in 12th and Touring. Seems like Buggy 2wd and 4wd is getting stronger.
Especially with Japanese makers and the Worlds this year.
Why you coming in? Just expanding or have you noticed an increase in off-road as well?

Whatever the reason, can't wait to see your chassis!

actually,i just make stuff for what i run i am looking to keep it small with volume so i decided to get into the 4wd with lipo.more of a personal preference.i have been looking for something new and have been running 1/8th scale but i am really getting tired of nitro.touring and 1/12th are alot of fun and i still do them but i need a break from it sometimes and the 4wd electric seems like a good escape.i am really looking forward to running.and hell,if i dont do production kits,i am going to do one for my car. it will be a few weeks but i will post some pics when i get it finished.

yeah, some things are truly "Lost in Translation".
I gotta say, I have built a ton of kits and HPI and X-Ray do the best job on manuals.
But then again, I have only built 1 HPI car (Pro4).
To date, the best instructions have been the X-Ray ones.
For the price of Tamiya kits, you would think they would be Color high gloss, high quality, like the ones X-Ray puts out.
Oh, well. At least they put all their efforts on the Kit!
