Default Opions wanted Duratrax speed controller.

Recently I bought 2 Duratrax speed controlers. They handle 8 trurn and above. It has reverse with a lock out and a couple of other features.

I was running a Speed Gems 10t, in my 10T, which shouldnt matter, but for what ever reason the reverse and the break stopped working. I did all of the trouble shooting and it has to be returened to Duratrax. The other one in my T4 has a 19t pro and it is working just fine. Both speed controllers have just about the same ammount of run time, about 3 batteries through them, 4200mah.

Are these things crap or did I just get a little unlucky?

Post up Crap or Unlucky.

If you feel like suggesting something as an replacement that would be cool to. - Just not brushless, b/c of the cost.

Thanks.

Didn't know they made there own ESC's. More than likely they are for the basher. I personally would recommend a Novak ESC instead, simply cause I haven't had many problems and if I did I they had great customer service.

No experience with Duratrax speed controls, but I would bet they are crap. Sorry.

I've had a 2) Novak GTX's for 2 years now and I have had zero problems.

CRAP!!! First hand experience. And seen a lot of others go bad as well. Get a Novak gt7 or gtx. You will never look back, well that is unless you decide to go brushless.

I have not had very good luck with a number of duratrax speed controls.

For 59.00 you can get a Hitec HFX, which will handle up to 12 or 10 turn. They are basically bulletproof. Easy to set up and current limiter is right on the speed control.

I have previously have 135.00 speed controls, but been happiest with the HFX.

Stick with the big 3......Novak, Tekin, LRP. IF your strapped for cash, novak sells remanufactured units from time to time on there websight. Carries all the warranties, ect.
