New Jersey Offroad....

Are there any tracks in NJ that race truggies? 1/8, 1/10, 1/12?

I currently live in NJ. I've raced at Checkerboards twice for their 2005 and 2006 Turkey Races. It is an old 1/10th scale oval that they converted. Its a bit small for a truggy but fun. Down further in Vineland there is a track but I've never been there. Finally there is Trax70. Not sure what kind of turn out they get. The track is deeper than it is wide. Up in north Jersey there is another small track. Best bet for racing is to head to PA for HobbyHut (where I go), up to CT for Walcott or to Chester, NY for Barnstormers.

There is going to be a new track up in northern NJ soon I hear though.

Best regards,

There used to be a track at Englishtown. Large offroad and onroad w/hobbyshop. Don't know if they're still open. I used to race there many years ago.

Vineland, NJ. great track, the race 1/10th, gas & electric, and the new 1/12 truggies, monster trucks too.

Couple more tracks in NJ for ya.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=162798

American Raceway in Englishtown is no more . It closed around 02.

Family hobbies is an excellent facility! But they are not running 1/8 or Truggy.

Do you have any more info about this by any chance...? I'd definitely be interested in a northern NJ track, it might end up being the closest 1/8 track near me (I'm from Long Island), so that's pretty exciting news to me

You can contact Aldo at CrispyCrittersHobbyShop in Totowa, NJ. He is opening the track up at a local park. Or you can probably hit the forum on their website.

Best regards,

if you are in north jersey, barnstormers in chester NY should not be too far. It's about a 30 minute drive from the ny/nj border.

Englishtown closed up a couple of years ago. Family hobbies down in Vineland was one of the nicest offroad tracks around when I was in that area, hopefully it's still going strong.

E town was a blast. Did racing die down over there or was it something else?

I never got the whole story but from what I head the owner of the property wanted more money for rent for the hobbyshop/track area's and that was the end of it. I had many good years racing on their onroad track. I even used to beat a punk kid named Jeff Cuffs all the time, I wonder what happened with him?

V-Land is still around, and Ron is still a nut on the stand I've been going there every summer since 2001, it's a really nice track.

They recently changed the layout, too.

Matt - yea, it was the rent going up + they wanted to build a strip mall & it wasn't zoned for a hobbyshop. I guess it was ok to sell porn next door at railroad salvage but not ok for a hobbyshop, go figure. Back in the US huh, you race much anymore? You were king back in the day (JohnG)

Tony - checkerboard isn't too small for truggy anymore. Trust me. Checkerboard Pics

As for 1/10th www.familyhobbiesraceway.com is the place to be. Besides being one of the best kept offroad tracks in the East it's now the longest operating offroad track in the country. I think feeble is the longest, fastest operating driver in the east too

WOW, looks like they did the track up this year. Some nice big jumps in there I'll have to head down there before I move and check it out. Do they have a race schedule online anywhere?
