novak 5800 rotor magnets come loose
it's been barking since last fall. can I fix it, or do I have to send it back to Novak?
any advice. thanks Sean |
buy a sintered rotor
|
I had one come loose on a LRP and used JB Weld to reglue it. Never came loose again. I think originally heat loosened it up. Make sure you get the magnet back in the right place on the shaft.
Sintered would be the ultimat answer, but if your tight on cash, it can be fixed. |
I bring my novak parts in and I get it replaced. They have good customer service. They can help with your brushless setup.

what do you mean by barking ?

*When I suspected something was wrong* Was when I had the motor outside the vehicle, and was running it free.
It sounded like there was a bad bearing inside. And felt like alot of vibration untill I reached WOT. I didn't think that was right so I disassembled it, and checked the bearings. It was clean, and it seemed like it was alright. Instead of putting the stock rotor back in, I replaced it with the novak 3.5 upgrade. Immediately after install the smoothness came back to the motor, and just ran plan better!! So I figured that the rotor was bad after that. I don't think it "Came apart though" ? I'm not sure. |
If its the SS ceramic rotor the sleeves that act as shimsor washers will make a similar noise.
Should be one in front and back of the rotor. |
thanks
