Salutations Earthlings!
hi all!i want to get a new 4wd off road buggy, currently, i think the choices are limited to Losi's xxx4 or Yokomo's mr4bc2. i can't think of any other competitive 4wd<the durango is way out of my financial ability.....> i would appreciate some feedback on both buggies to make a decision.all comments are welcome!
if you are using something other then these 3 buggies, please feel free to leave your comments as well.

I would say the XXX4 over Yokomo, parts avalibility should be better. Losi has been building the best 4wd cars for years, and their racers seem to have built another great car in the XXX4.

i too think that the XXX4 is more technologically inclined.
whereas the MR4Bc uses rather dated technology and sus geometry.
however, i feel that the XXX4 does seem to have a rather wide chassis which may cause chassis scrub when turning aggressively?
also, <and no disrespect to all the imperial screw thread fans out there...>the XXX4 uses imperial screws which , <IMHO>strip easily, at least more frequently then metric screws?

I dont think there will be any problem with chassis scrub, honestly all 4wd cars are going to be wider than the usual 2wd, there is no way to get around that problem, but with the right suspension setup, it doesnt necessarely mean you are going to rub the chassis on hard turns.

I must know "imperial" screws as "standard" screws, but I guess they wouldn't be known as standard if you were in a different country but I have never had a problem with stripping them. Get a good wrench, with a tight fit, and you shouldn't have any problems either. I use Hudy tools, but MIP also makes a great tight fitting wrench.

The MR4BC is based off of the first MR4TC platforms, and has no real changes that I have seen, it never was one of the best cars on the track, and with Losi's release of the XXX4, it was put even further back in the pack. You did mension the MR4BC2, which I am unaware of, as it is not out in the USA yet, I did look at teamyokomo.com (the Japan site) and the car did not seem to have any real changes done to it from the origional MR4BC. I am still saying you will get better results with the XXX4, it is track proven already in it's first months of debut, and that is saying a lot for a new car. The decision is all yours, I am just offering advice from an 8 year racing background, and I have owned 4 XX4's, and a MR4BC as well, and liked the XX4 better back then, but the XXX4 is a step above everyone else.

You can get the MR4BC special, with nice blue and graphite bits but i would still pick the XXX-4 because or its sealed drive train, amazing efficiency and advanced suspension geometry.

guys! i can tell youre all pretty pleased with your XXX4s!
but what about the 4wds from other constructors?
Schumacher cat 3000 and kyosho's ZXS and of course, the Durango and yokomo's old MX
i'm not sure if any one else makes 4wds....do you guys know?
i wonder if Tamiya will release a competitive 4wd off roader?

i was wondering if yokomo will come up with something new...afterall, IT IS ifmar champs year for EP offroad and associated <yokomo is the japan distributer>has already produced a new car.
i wonder how long we have to wait though....
a shaft drive off roader should be fun!

I was going to talk about the durango, but you said it was too costly... I would propably give that a shot even over the XXX4 if I were to get one, but if price is an issue, I think the XXX4 is definately your best bet.

The XXX-4 with a 9X2 handwound motor and a very good ESC.

Even RCCA rated the XXX-4 the "Fastest 4X4 in the world".

Ive broken track records with this thing. The xxx-4 is ballistic fast, its probably boaring to run stock in.

When you get your xxx-4, some recommended hopups are for MOD.

Trinity Motor mount clamp (MUST HAVE, PLASTIC BREAK EZ TO MOD)
Lundsford Titanium Turnbuckles
XXX-4 Graphite chassis
Threaded shocks.

This car is the fastest offroad I have ever driven in my life, its a blast to drive.

I wonder when the XXX4 Graphite will be released, I would get one, just hate upgrading everything to graphite, threaded shock bodies, lunsford turnbuckles, bb steering etc...

Of course it will After Losi's first "plastic" kit. They come out with a graphite kit, then come out with a "Team Kit" usually.
