Whats the difference in odonnel rtr and racing fuel?
 
Just getting ready to order a case and wondered what difference is,

My application will be

2 os vg .21's
1 os rg .21
1 axial .28

all in buggies

i'm currently running trinity 30% but looking into a bid of a change of pace

The RTR has a different oil package than the race.
Go with the race fuel for what you are doing.

its pretty much the oil % that differs

what trinity fuel are you running right now??? for example...
platium
rtr
monster blend

thanks for the feedback, thats a good question i will check when i get home from work, I ran the trinity stuff because its what the LHS carried / recommended... but with the lhs over an hour away i just cant get away to get more so i ordered some of the odonnell 30 race fuel this morning.... we'll see how it performs..!

odonnell will work fine for sure you just might have a tiny bit of tuning to do ;)

yea thats ok cuase i was gonna say if your going from rtr fuel to race fuel you will have tuning to do for sure ;)

i just looked at your older post you useing 30% i never use 30% ... i know that byron fuel is $20 here for a gallon ... it has 16% oil and that plenty ... other brand's has somewhere between 12 %

i was told to run 20% nitro in a bb you have to remove a head shim... that they were designed for 30.....?

Most are designed for 25%, which is hard to find in america, you should add a thin shim (dont know exact size. think its .1 mm or .15mm) for 30%, or the suggest you do, but most dont.

A general rule of thumb is if you go up in nitro, you go down a plug temp. so if your run med, and 20%, and go to 30%, you go to cold med/cold plug. If your at a cold plug already, then you need to add a shim. At least thats what I was taught.

The shims prevent pre-ignition of the fuel. (The fuel ignites while piston is still heading to the top). It changes the timing at best, and at workst, causes con rod/piston damage.

Youll know if your engine is pre-igniting. It will ping, pop and backfire and just sound odd.

I like coopers or odonnels.

Also, I have heard rumors, but cant confirm or deny, that HIGHER oil content will cause your enging to runa little hotter. Higher alcohal content runs cooler. It has to do with the un-ignited state cooling the engine while it circulates.

25% is not hard at ALL to find in america

i always use 30%
