Default Amezcua leaves Losi

From Neo-buggy.net:

Travis Amezcua will leave Team Losi as of Friday May 4th, leaving behind him a strong record there. Travis has been on and off the gas offroad scene, but his domination of qualifying at last year's ROAR buggy nats and performances since, prompted Novarossi to sign him to the US team, made up of Amezcua, Mike Truhe and Phillip Atondo - all Losi drivers.

He joins HPI/Hot Bodies in the off road development for 1/8 and 1/10, and also assumes the role of US offroad team manager.

They wont necessarily pick up "plenty" of great drivers. Losi's race team budget has been dropping since the "take over" of Horizon. Losi products are heading for Wal Mart, once that happens, racing will be the last thing on their minds.

HPI/Hotbodies has some stuff under wraps I bet in off road. Amezcua will definately help with the program over there, both in racing and development.

its about the money for travis and hpi offered him a healthy salary to "supersize" their offroad competition racing cars . i do agree that since horizon hobby took over the decision making rights for the Losi family business that it has started to lose focus on racing and look for more $$$$ from their multi million's of dollars investment i can only imagine what gil will do with r&d at kyosho america there is gonna be some bad ass cars coming from kyosho
my two cents !!!
later , monty (fast guy)

Hmmm....when does Walmart get the 8ight in stock?

Losi race team budget dropping....hmmm....not really. We are now not only doing TC, Elec. Offroad but we are also doing Gas Offroad in all 3 classes and winning at it. I guess you know more than me. Perhaps you should apply for a job there.

Your right we lost focus. We now spend our more of our $$ on 1.8th offroad. I guess that is a bad choice.

We wish the best to Travis, he has a chance to be more involved with the development of cars which is something he has wanted to do for awhile. He will also be able to move back to the OC which is where he loves to live.

Good luck PeaNut!
