I had the same decision to make myself about 3 weeks ago. I went with the Rustler and havent regreted it a minute. Its a very solid truck for the money. Mine has spent its whole life so far running a 4.5 novak brushless in it and has been very durable so far.

Rusty blows the evader st out of the water, no questions asked!!! I had one a couple years ago and all that broke on it was the steering bellcrank. It was my brother driving the rig and he flew diagonal straight into the curb. There are way more hop up parts for the rustler than the evader too. If you took a stock rustler and a stock evader and lined them up for a race, the rusty would win garanteed. Get the rustler. You won't regret it, trust me.

Agree with Snake Eyes - the evader is much easier to set up, but the tranny sux. For racing, they just don't last. Although the rusty is much more durable, it's just not adjustable enough.
I wouldn't recommend either of these for serious racing - we took the tires and electronics out of my son's evader and stuck them into a used XXXT between heats and he cut a full second off his laptime on the very first run. Traded the other son from a Rustler to an Evader pro and eventually to a T4 with similar results each time. We save our indestructible rustlers for bashing.

i would take the rusty over any other st out. sure its not as competitive out of the box, but is so durable, that you can learn to drive it fast without breaking anything. and there are plenty of hop-ups to make it competitive

Traxxas parts are designed to bend instead of break, so if you want durability out of the box, go with the rustler, i have a brushless system in mine, and have hit a telephone pole(don't ask how) at 45 and nothing happened, just bounced right off. whether i got lucky or not...

i have had my rustler for about a year and the only thing tat happened is my servo saver spring popped.just squeeze it back in and be on your way.
