Default Can the lossi XXX4 handle powerful motors?

I was palnning on getting a lossi XXX-4

I wanted to put a serious motor in it. 10 turn would be the minimum

Can I put 8 turn motor in or will the gearbox die.

Can this truck handle serious motors?

I've seen Novak GTB 3.5's run with not a single issue.. Except there hard to keep on the ground. I think it was tring to fly. . My LHS dealer goes to the extreme with everything.

Why? Most tracks you cant even put that power down, and its not a truck.

Too many people just want to go get the fastest, then wonder why they cant control it.

I spose a good thing about todays current batteries and brushless motors allow you to basically run a 40,000 rpm motor or around that size and simply limit the throttleon the transmitter much like a carb restrictor in a nitro engine, this allows you to have the biggest if need be and also something smaller if you choose to go smaller, todays ESC`s have no worries having limited throttle and would behave much like a smaller wound motor having the throttle limited. I have a GTB 6.5 in my XXX4 G+ but if the track wont allow that kind of power and speed i can simply limit the throttle on the transmitter. Then i have a 7.5 or 8.5 etc.

people run bl motors on lipo's which are much more than any brushed motor that is 9 or above turns lol...a 3s +5700 would be insane...and the buggy can take it...as long as you keep everything in check

from what ive seen i think it will. Just keep an extra belt or 2 on hand just in case. You may want to upgrade the diff cups also.

There's something about seeing a XXX4 with a 4.5 being held wide open! I don't know if it's the whining of the belt or what.. The car may not handle the best but that belt sound was cool.

**** I've seen guys who just want the INSANE speed so they buy the mamba 7700 or the Novak 3.5.... and pair it with a cheap battery pack with cuts that speed in HALF! If you're shooting for salt-flat speed runs... get a good pack too! And tell us how it went!

I was wondering the same thing. So in general, it will handle a powerful brushless setup like the mamba 5700 on 2-3cell lipo? What size lipo can I fit in it? Has anyone tried to fit a 2s2p 8000mah lipo? Does it really handle a lot better than say a 2wd stadium truck? I'm thinking yes, but I've never even seen one at our track and much less driven one.

My brother runs a 4.5R and a 4800 lipo in his XXX-4. with no problems.

And I run a 5.5R and lipo in my XXX-4 also no problems.

I've fit a Maxamps 2s2p 6000 mah, but not before I filed the little "cell nub" completely off the battery holder; the pack is right at the the height limit. Given the dimensions listed for the 8000 mah and the tight fit of the 6000, I'd wager that the 8000 would not fit unless you elected to use strapping tape instead of the battery bar.

3s in any 1/10 scale is just overkill, in my opinion. My 2s2p with a Novak 5.5 has way too much power, even for just street bashing, and that's using the Novak gearing recommendation (3 pinion teeth down from standard).

I'd had a maxamps 8000 in mine, I just had to make my own battery strap to hold it in. However, unfortunitly mine didn't last too long... The softback was damaged from the chassis.
