Awesome news! Getting one for sure.

This was my first 'proper' R/C car back in '88. As I was just a kid, I messed up the build and the drive train was locked solid. When I gassed the throttle the first time, the car went nowhere and smoke poured off the speed controller resistors!

Hopefully I can perform a better build second time round

Cheers,
Scotty P.

I got one of these for Christmas in 1987. I bashed it to death

This was my first "RC" car. I remember I bought the shock upgrade kit (it was off the super shot).

I may buy one and keep it as a shelf queen!!

Cherry, It really depends on the demand and pressure that is applied to Tamiya, see what they said on that Tamiya HotShot link?

From what i read (not official) the price on this thing will range from $200-250 which is real sweet

At least you dont have to fork out $750 and the likes of what they are currently fetching on ebay non nib

this is the first ever 4wd... tamiya's produced back in 1985

source http://www.rccartips.com/rc-history.htm
"1985 was the year of the first IFMAR 1/10th Electric Off-Road World Championship. Again, Associated Electrics won with the RC10. 5

This was also the year that Tamiya surprised everyone by introducing a 4-wheel drive (4WD) buggy called the HotShot. This was the first true off-road racing car from Tamiya. It was faster than its 2WD predecessors, especially in slippery and dusty conditions. "

I hope so - otherwise it's just not true to the original. It's bad enough they pulled out the hex tailshaft, and the manual speed control that used to jam and release smoke regularly.

I wonder if we can make some of the mods we made to the original. Replacement polycarbonate chassis, two lay-down rear shocks replacing the monoshock etc
