I am running on 1600kv medusa now.
I ran that motor on 6s in my old 8ight-t and it did great. Ran very cool, and had more than enough power.

I'm preety much just running for something different, and a club race every now an then. Was running novak hv 5.5 system with 12 4600 matched cells and everything was very warm and busted a battery pack from over heating cell failure maybe. Anyway I was getting between 6-7 min. with two packs. So today I tryed 1 battery vs 2 so basicly one 7.2 4600 6 cell pack. I ran the same way I ran it last time basiclly a ball diomand with a jump around home. Anyway it seem to have the same amoundt of kick, maybe a little less and a little less top speed, but I was able to run cooler and run longer, I got close to 8 min with one battery.

Is this in a buggy? A motor with that high of KV should be ran on 3S or 12 cells IMO. I know Novak rates them for 4S, but that motor is pretty hot for off road use. Maybe on road it wouldnt get that hot.

Hi guys, I am new to this thread and I a sure it has been asked before but I just don't have days to read over 1000 + pages so I am going to ask.
I plan on getting the Tekin RX8 1/8th esc to run in my soon to be converted 808 and would like to know what motor is best overall for racing in buggy from Tekin or other??, and what suggested battery set up should I go with. I am looking for race worthy ideas based on ROAR rules keeping in mind I have not yet decided to go mechanical brakes or motor brake yet. I am looking at the slipperdiff to add to this creation.
Suggestions?

If you want to stay in ROAR rules you have to stay 4S and get the 1900KV. If you do not care about ROAR got 6S with the 1400KV.

Hyperion batteries are some of the best out there.

Well I can skip on ROAR rules for now since I am not going to race ROAR till next year. So 1400 KV 6s Hyperion you say? What 1400 KV motor as in poles winding type etc so I know what to search for when I go to buy?

Go with the Tekin 1400KVbuggy motor/ESC combo with the Hyperion 6S 3300mah 35C packs.

This is what I have in my 808 and love it.

What kind of run times do you get with that set up? I would love long run time.

I have never times it in race time. I run 10 min and put about 1700-1900 mah back into the pack. today a friend and I were out at the track and we were running 30 min, but that is not all out all the time.

Sounds good to me. I could probably get by on a race day with three packs.

I have ran 2 rounds of RC PRo with only 1 pack. They were on backorder and I could not get more. I charge them at 2C and have never had any trouble.

Thanks to all the guys who responded below. Yes, Anderson powerpoles were the ones I was trying to remember. It's for a big setup, a really big setup! Not 1/8th. (BTW, it's not mine, I'm just building it.)

I have 4 x 5s 4200 hyperion G3 packs we're going to stuff into a 1/5th scale. (200 amp Jeti esc, 2215 neu motor, 10s 8400mah.) Deans would be fine straight out of the batteries but then we have to make 2 series connectors and a large parallel connector as we funnel all that power into the esc so I was looking for something that could cope with about double the current of UltraDeans to give me a buffer zone. I could simply use 2 x Deans plugs instead of one but I want to leave no room for error when they plug it all together so I'm looking for a different standard as well as higher current for the final plug into the ESC.

The connectors never get warm and I have no indication the power of my car is limted by the connectors. You could probably easily get by with the 75Amp rated connectors for a 1/5th scale car.
