I worked for several hours on a new 'End of Event' printout. The old printout had the results by race #, so you had to look through the whole thing if AAA mains were used.

**None of this is aimed at ARCOR or the 2007 ROAR Off-Road Nationals***

This is something that I've felt for a while, and this seemed like a good opportunity to bring it up for discussion.

For what my two cents may be worth, I don't think the t-shirts are very important. Not because it's not cool to have a souvenir from the event, but because 300 shirts at $5 a pop is a lot for the track to cover. I would much rather see the club/track pocket that $1500 and stay open for me to race at some other time.

Or better yet...spend that $1500 to make the race that much better. $1500 to put a scoring monitor in pit lane or in the pits. $1500 to hire one or two extra people for the weekend to moderate the drivers' stand, or work on the track, or run a trackside food cart, or even make headway towards paid turn marshals. Spend that five dollars per person on making the racing experience unique and amazing, which will last much longer than a t-shirt.

It sure seems like the races "back in the day" all had trophies that were awesome and indicative of the importance of the race. I've attended national-level races in the last few years where the awards were...well...awful. I'm not saying that every regional just-for-fun event needs to hang out a big cup to the winner or trophies that are as tall as Dakotah (haha), but SOMETHING that sticks out. At the 2004 1/8th scale Worlds in Sweden, each entry got a small scale replica of the track and facility as their participation award. Now THAT was cool.

I was not expecting a T-Shirt given to me, but I would have bought at least 3 of them. The club could have made some extra money by selling them at $15 a pop with less than half that in cost in them.

ROAR and ARCOR did an excellent job of running the races and keeping the track in excellent racing condition all the time that was the most important thing than making sure everybody got a T-shirt.

I didn't have much time to take any..... actually, didn't see many cameras around. Doug Hay took quite a few and I'm sure he'll post some once he downloads the card.
