Axial motors

I just bought a .28, who has them and what are your tips, tricks, thoughts, good, bad, and ugly??

Perry 04-08-2007 08:29 PM

I got about 2 gallons on mine. Easy to tune and holds it forever and idles all day. Running mc 8 for glow plug. Had to replace the pull start and the mid speed screw. The screw just fell out half way around the track. One of the best 28s for the price.

do you think it has more power than the ofna .21 hyper? I bought a back plate for mine so the pull start wont be an issue and im going to use a jammin j 3 pipe with it.

anyone have any input?

The Axial .28 Spec 1s has wayyyy more power than a Hyper .21. Heck most engines do LOL!! Great engines for the price. Oh and BTW, my buddy had the same problem as Perry did with the mid-range needle falling out so keep your eye on it.

yeah a couple of guys at the track here have had that problem. we think that some fine dirt is getting by it as well, we have had to pinch them after about 15 tanks  i sealed that end of the carb with rtv so we will see how long it lasts this time. And on the hyper 21 being faster, these are the 8 port race ones and they are either as fast or just as fast on the oval. my other car has an os rg 21 bone stock same gearing as my axial and it'll leave me going down the straight not by alot but enough to make a pass.

Get a TSAIS T-32 pipe set and your AXIAL .28
will come alive.

jp-1,jp-3 gives some nice responses to...i am gonna run a jp-1 on mine..had the jp-2 but didn't really like it so now that's on my p5

loopedout 05-08-2007 04:30 PM

the 086 runs better than the jp3 imo

loopedout 05-25-2007 07:35 PM

got the tsais pipe, if it runs as good as it looks we'll be in business, very impressed with the quality of the pipe, very nice  we shall find out tomorrow how it runs

I ran that pipe tonight for awhile but never could get the motor to tune. I had to keep richening the carb, went over 2 full turns and it still was starving for fuel on the big end?? Seems like I need a much bigger carb to run that big pipe. Put my 086 back on and took a tune just fine. Any suggestions?
