Default bodies

ok so i came from the slot car world where there were many styles of bodys to chose from some better then others and suddenly i drop into the rc world and notice i only see one stlye of body per car per class such as losi has this body and associated has this style etc. is there any variety as to which body styles to choose from such as in slot cars you could run anything from a model t up to a 2007 mustang or go with chevy mopar etc. thanks for any replys

For the most part, off road bodies are function over form, with a little style thrown in to distinguish them. On the flip side, there are many, many on road bodies, ranging from a 69 Z28 to a 07 mustang, pretty much any popular car. What are you looking to put a body on?

Take a look at jconcepts.net. We make something different from the stock blah style for most racer oriented cars, including the 18t and the B4 (2 styles). If you have any questions let me know, through pm or in the JConcepts thread.

Because the bodies are slung so close to the chassis, and each company has slight geometry tweaks, bodies aren't interchangable unless you add longer body mounts. Even if you do that though, you'll have trouble finding bodies that have a correct wheelbase for the chassis.

Basically, a buggy takes a buggy body specifically for that chassis. Truck bodies you can fake a little with a different body (associated on a losi or vice versa), but it involves cutting creatively to get the shocktowers to fit, which defeats the purpose of running the body at all (it's the first line of defense, after all).

However, there are about a half dozen body manufacturers, and if you run a common chassis, you can probably find different styles. Proline is probably the best known, but parma has some, as do Jconcepts (probably second most popular after proline). Each company usually has a couple bodies as they tend to update styles (the xxx nt has at least 3 that losi has made). Also look for Dahms (has a new owner now) or Bolink (if you can find them). Atomic also makes some bodies for the Associated cars.

i miss running my slots. but anyways, there is not alot of bodies for a buggy and what ones are different you cant really tell from 4 feet away anyhow. but Jconcepts has bodies for buggy, proline has bodies and then the stock bodies from the manufacturer. but for trucks you find alot of styles from the same companies as well as parma. for monster trucks the same companies and lots of varities as well. for 1/8 buggy and truggy not alot yet.
