I think what he means is that flush could be with the slot straight up and down or the slot side to side.I would think that three hours of turn on the mid needle would make a great difference.I have the same question as this guy !

The OS manual doesn't count how many turns to flush.

Low end from manual:
"Rotate the Metering Needle until its slotted head is flush with the ball link body. This is the standard position."

Mid:
"First rotate the Mixture Control Valve until its slotted head is flush with the carburator body. Then screw the valve in exactly 1 turn. This is the standard position."

I'm just about done with the break in on my V-spec and I didn't touch the mid needle at all and I think I only leaned out the low speed needle 2 hours. The high speed needle is the one I had to lean out quite a bit since the factory settings on that are really rich.

Correct, you MUST tune the engine for best performance every time you start it. I mean every time because a change in the air temperature or humidity will affect the tune.

The factory setting is just a starting point to be used the first time, after that it is never used.

The only time you should ever need factory settings is if you re-oring the carb for a complete tear down. If its not running right dont go scew happy on the thing it not going to fix it anyway. Mid never touch-ever. Low range plus or minus 1/2 turn and high range 1turn in or out at most.
