Default cleaning

Have you tried to carefully take it apart and clean it up? I had the same problem but instead of fixing it I replaced the pull start witha spin start that was made to fit my motor. It is a pretty easy upfit from what I saw, and is pretty cheap to do. Just use a cordless drill with a clutch to protect the bearing.
