Is this ESC any good?

I want to try to race my T3 in the novice stock (27T) class. I need a new ESC. Is this one any good. I know it has reverse but I can shut it off for racing. Has anyone here had this before and would you recomend it?

if you already spend money you should just go ahead and spen 80 on a gts by novak that would be a way better deal.

Haven't heard any feedback on Hitec ESC's. I would recommend a novak XRS for what you are after - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXGNG5&P=ML

Look on ebay (or forums) for a used Novak Cyclone. They will handle any motor you can find and last forever. Cyclones are probably less than $45 now. It's discontinued but still a first class ESC.

The yellow label ones are the oldest & i believe purple is the newest before they discontinued them.

I agree with the cyclone. Mine has lasted 9 years and has no motor limit like the Hitec.

I agree on the cyclone. Also, if you can find a Tekin G-10 or G-11 esc, they probably are the easiest to setup.

You could also look into a futaba MC230CR or MC330CR. They do 6V BEC, are extremely small, and will handle stock motors or the 330 will do to a 13 turn. I know guys who use the 230CR for 19 turn as well.

The esc can be found used for around $25.

I started racing way back in the day 1988. I have used almost everything out and the best I have used has been tekin products. I got out of the hobby for a while and I guess tekin went under at one point. But I noticed recently they have a website and you can buy some of their older products online. I know you cant beat a g12 or a g9. Very easy to set up.

Do you want one with reverse for when you aren't racing?

Cheers

hitec

ive used one of the hitec speedys pictured there, but mine was red.it went very well with no problems at all until i ran a 10 turn motor in my stampede with it,then it fried.when i ran a 14 turn with it,it ran with no problems ever.
as for 27 turn, i think that would be fine if you are starting out.
i try to dodge seconhand speedies as you never realy know if they are are any good.
