How do starter boxes work? Do they work with Shaft Start engines?
i have an ofna jammin x1-cr RTR and im wondering how the starter boxes work.
it seems easier than a roto start thing, and it holds the car off the ground to prevent runaways

An electric powered motor spins a rubber coated wheel. When you push the car down on the box, it engages this electric motor. The rubber wheel then comes in contact with the flywheel of the engine, spinning the flywheel. This of course, starts the engine.

and this would work with a jammin 1/8 buggy that is a rotostart?

Yeah, it would work, look at the underneath of your car. Can you see the flywheel through a hole in the chassis? That's what the hole is for, the starter box. I've never had a rotostart so I wouldn't know how easy it is to use, but honestly, using a starter box makes life easy. The only semi-bad thing you need to do is set the box up which isnt that hard.

you need 6 cell batteries though right?

Depends on the box, you'll either need two stick style batteries or a sing 12V lead-acid battery.
