Default Noob needs help

Hey everyone whats up. Ive been reading up on R/C cars for about the last month and have decided to buy my first kit. Im on a budget so ive decided to bulid a electric 1/10 scale truck rather then a nitro truck. I want to bulid my first kit from scratch rather then buying a rtr kit and i have been looking at two choices. The team associated RC10T4 or the team losi xxxt Matt Francis 2. I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on which is better for the money and which is a better truck for a beginner. Also what might be easyier to bulid and maintain if something breaks. I have no clue about good motor and esc combos so if you guys have any suggestions about them feel free to post your ideas as well.

well im a big associated fan, never really cared for losi. i would go with whatever your lhs supports the best as far as parts and other people running the truck you are buying, that way setup help is readily avail. id get a RTR truck, i bought a rtr rc10gt a couple of years ago, broke in the engine, changed rear tires, and with stock shock oil, springs etc and won the amain, dirt oval with it first time out.

You won't make a mistake picking between those two trucks. No matter what anyone says, neither truck is obviously better than the other. Both Losi and Associated parts are everywhere. The Factory Team T4 can be had for like $55 less than the MF2 (www.ultimatehobbies.com). Both are equally easy to build and maintain.

For and motor combinations just decide what your budget is. You don't need the top of the line ESC. If you are racing then save enough money for at least two good matched battery packs.

I used to own the MF2, but that was before I could keep the wheels down all the time. I sold it a while ago so I can't give a direct comparison, but I recently bought a T4. I'm really happy with it because it was cheaper than the MF2 and the kit tires, oil, and springs work on my track.

Ah yes, another thing. Losi is about to release their XXXT-CR version soon. So if you decide to go Losi you might want to wait for that.

These are the ones I primarily shop at and have had a good experience with for electric.

www.towerhobbies.com <- Periodic coupon deals
www.speedtechrc.com
www.horizonhobby.com <-- owns Losi, but not the best prices necessarily
www.ultimatehobbies.com
www.stormerhobbies.com

Thanks. Ultimate hobbies has great prices on those 2 kits. Horizon hobby wanted atleast 50 to 75 dollars more for those kits.

Nice. I Hadn't shopped for a MF2 recently. Only $10 more than a FTT4.

Try to buy some parts from your local hobby shop. They make more off the baggies than the kits. GOtta keep them in business!

Either the Associated gt2 rs rtr, the losi xxx nt2 rtr, or the hpi firestorm 10t rtr. Any opinions on those kits?

Hey for what it's worth, I just picked up a XXX-NT for my first Nitro car, and I am having a ton of fun just breaking it in, giving it partial throttle, etc. Not even opening it up all the way yet.

When I give her 3/4 throttle the car FLIES, literally takes off.

When I am going through the grass, the thing flies so fast and has so much power the front end wants to pop up off any little bump.

The thing is insane, simply put.

This is the only car I've owned, so take this with a grain of salt. Just wanted to share my two cents
