Default Racing Fuels

I have a question about Racing Fuel. I recently bought a gallon of O'Donnell 30% for my MBX5, after tuning my engine and playing around for ahwile I started getting real bad stomach cramps. I thought it was just something I ate, but the next day I took my buggy out and ran some practice runs, soon after I got the same cramps in my stomach?

I have used Traxxas fuel and Byrons before and never had a problem. Is it just me or has anyone experienced this before? Am I allergic to O'Donnell fuel?

Also they all have there own distinct smell to them, Traxxas fuel smells good to me, while O'Donnell and Byrons have a strong different odor to them. Byrons has a real strong oil burning smell to it, I would say it smells the worst out of all three, but I never got sick using it like I did with O'Donnel

I know this is kind of a weird question, but I am just wondering if anybody else has gotten sick off a certain brand of fuel

umm!! well stop huffing on the pipe once you get your car started.

i have never heard of that, but i know that when i was racing two strokes and i would go to a desert race they would put us in lines of five and then send us of 30 sec. apart. with all the different types of oils guys were using some bugged me more than others but never like that. so basically i dont know. guess anything is possible.

KyleHirano,
I never have more than two or three shots of Sidewider 30% before the qualifiers. Much more and I start having a problem getting up the steps. Seriously though I've never heard of that.

Yeah Ive been in this hobby 25yrs, cars, boats, airplanes you name it and I have never gotten sick, until I used O'Donnell fuel.

And no, Its not like I stuck my face up to the exhaust and breathed in the fumes

The O'Donnell fuel runs great, but I can't stand the smell of it either. It really does make me sick to my stomach as well. No issues with Maxy's or Byron's. I have also ran Traxxas and Blue Thunder fuel back in the old T-Maxx days and no issues with those two fuels either. It has to do with the oil package that they are using. I also don't like it because it is clear and hard to see in your tank.

All fuels are very different. The worst I have smelled was Sig airplane fuel. It had something like 18% of pure castor oil, no synthetic and it was like sticking your head into a bucket of burning oil. Nasty.

I use O'Donnel almost exclusively now. I also used it when I raced nitro indoors. Personally, I think it has a rather mild smell, but if I get too much, my eyes and my nose will burn severely. I've also tried Sidewinder, Fantom, Trinity, White Lightning which all seem very similar to me in both smell and performance. Traxxas and Blue Thunder are the one that turn my stomach. Those two seem to be the ones that give me that nasty burning oil smell.
