using a mitsubishi .120 cut-off/groove tool to do the finns, dont know the insert # off hand. I'll get you some speeds and feeds tomarrow. you definatly want to use the constant surface speed code. finish looks pretty good and the chips flow out suprisingly well. I'm not a big lathe guy, been programing mills for 15 years and dabble with the lathes only when I have to.
I'm going to be making a motor mount, shock towers and some other goodies for my mayhem and a buddie's 8eight next week.

thanks for the info. if i had your speeds and feeds, that would save me alot of the guess work for a good finish and good chip removal. ? though, when you cut the releif for the fins, did you do multipe cut depths or just one fd cut

one cut, cap the spindle speed at 1500 RPM and I'm feeding at .002 IPR sounds slow, but the finish looks good and the chip flows out decent. ran it thru the tumbler to get rid of any burrs, its going to the powder coaters monday, then when I get it back going to tap it for the glow plug and put it on the 4th axis and cut some scalops in the sides.
