Exclamation Motor upgrade on a Electric Rustler

I have an electric Rustler, and want to put a motor and esc in it, but i dont think I should go brushless yet, my budget is $150 give or take a few dollars... what can you throw at me, i am hoping for at least 45, my cousin is into rc too and told me to go with an associated reedy and duratrax esc, and that could put me in the 40's, but i need a second opinion... or third... or fourth.

Save up the xtra money and go brushless, otherwise you gonna spend 30-45 on a motor and you will need to have it cut after 20 packs at the most. You will probably be running around 5 packs a day which means 4 days of running and you will need to cut it becuase performance will be lacking. If you go brushless you will be done no need to upgrade later. So thats what I say. So maybe you could clean some peoples yard up to make some extra cash spring cleaning is just around the corner for most.

I agree with Rocket42. You are better off saving up. If you motor is dead I would just spend $24 and get the Venom Fireball Motors and continue saving up

Cheers

What esc do you have at the moment? If it is the XL-1 it can take 17 turns and over.
The Venom fireballs are a modified motor and aren't a sealed motor like the 20t stinger.
You could go with either a 17t double or 19t double - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHUJ0&P=ML
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHUJ1&P=ML
And the price is only $16 not $24 as I said before.
And YES! you will notice a difference in power and speed.

Cheers

Do you have the ESC or MSC?

MSC

ESC

And if you don't have the XL-1 speed control, what esc do you have?

Cheers

the longest lasting motor you will get is a team checkpoint motor. costs more, but will get twice the life. and i agree with the above that you should save up and go brushless. will save a ton in the longrun

Go brushless. You can get the mamba setup from tower for under 200 dollars as they have a 30 dollar discount going on right now for purchases over 199. So get just over that amount, and deduct.
