Default D4 WCE discontinued ?

I contacted towerhobbies about a d4 wce, and they said they can longer get them as they are discontinued.

How can they discontinue a car, surely the plastic new car isnt suppose to be the replacement!

I seriously hope that is not the case. Was looking to pick one of these up later in the year.

Why would they do that? unless there is a new car on the way.

Emailling the Aus distributor now to see what is up. Will let you know what I find out.

This is the reply I got when I emailed HB about the D4 WCE being discontinued:

Jordan,

Thank you for calling HPI Racing and Hot Bodies customer service. I am not showing in the system that this D4 is discontinued. I wouldn’t be worried because it does not show that it is discontinued. If you need any help with any parts please let us know. You can contact us either my email or phone which is 1-888-349-4474.

Thanks,

I hope it's not going anywhere. Just bought my kit and a bunch of spares.

The D4 isn't going anywhere for the forseeable future. Its one of, if not the best 4wd out there and until anyone else comes out with something totally better, it's gonna be around!

I heard from a guy in Japan that Hot Bodies might discontinue their 1/10 electric offroad program...its just a rumor of course. Sales aren't what they expected and that may be the reason they decided not to mass produce the D2. Maybe thats why Hayato Matsuzaki is now running a Yokomo B-Max4.

Does this guy in Japan work for HPI / Hot Bodies, or is this just street whisper?

That is a good deal.

I don't think that HPI will discontinue a car that is working and selling well. If they cancel their off road program it would mean that there would be no new product development and factory sponsorship will fall off. Nobody ditches something that is selling and making money, at least not when overall sales are down.

I received an email a few days ago about the D2 from our team manager.... they will produce the car sometime in 2010

I'm only guessing they will wait for AE and Losi to produce their cars first to see which direction they will go. I've heard of a mid motor car designed and testing for Losi... if thats the case that would be a huge change of pace that would influence the design of others

Tony, that is some of the best news I have heard in some time. I was only wondering a few days ago if the real reason for the non release of this buggy would ever surface.

I assume there is no commitment at this stage to any particluar time in 2010,Qtr 2, Qtr 3?
