Default brushless or not?

I havent raced in years and I notice a lot of brushless stuff. are all the big guys running brushless motors now days? if so what are their setups they are using? or still using traditional brushed motors?

thanks

I love Brushless. I run the Novak 6.5R in my XX4. I don't think I go back to brush motors anymore.

I have a brushless XXX-T RTR and I like it. I will be putting a Novak Velociti 5.5 in my XX-4 probably this weekend. Once I get my 2wd buggy I will take the brushless setup out of my XXX-T and put it in the buggy. I will then put a Velociti 6.5 or 7.5 in my XXX-T.

As you can see.....I'm all about some brushless. The only thing I've seen at my local tracks is that they don't really have a "brushless" class. If they do, its too fast of a class for my stock truck to be in. Plus....none of the cars in the class are turcks. Oh well....I just mainly like to go to tracks and run around and practice. Eventually I'll start racing.

Currently putting together a XXX-CR w/13.5 brushless.

I'd say it's the wave of the future, but the future is already here. Brushless is "in".

I run Nitro off-road spring/summer/fall; but this winter I have been running electric touring car on carpet with a brushless setup (Novak SS+ & 13.5). So far I love it; low maintenance, longer run time and more torque.

the biggest thing I love about brushless is you dont have the performance drop like with bruhsed motors, unless you cut the comm and do the brushes constantly, with the brushed motors the performance constatnly changes, we had a new indoor track open, and I started the season with some of my older motors, and every week they just ran different, and it got to the point where they ran worse after I rebuilt them, then i switched my 4wd buggy to a mamba max, and now it runs exactly the same every run, every race, and now i've got another mamaba max coming for my MF2 because I like them that much better,

If you enjoy the tuning part of brushed motors, then you might not like brushless, because they are sooo much less work, but I prefer tuning the suspension and stuff, and not having to worry about the motor lets me do that more,

i'm just using the 5700, and its in a BJ4 also, I had a little bit of cogging, but I just turned the starting power down, I had it at the max, and I think I put it in the middle, and its perfect now, and I havn't had any heat issues or anything, it comes off cooler than my 14x2 did, and just plain works better every where, we have a really small tight indoor track,

if you havn't ordered it yet, I would consider getting the 5700, if your racing I think it will be better suited, but you can also run 3S lipo on it if you want it to be crazy fast, the 7700 you can't run 3S on it, so really the 5700 has the potential to be faster i think, I was actualy really suprised of the speed the 5700 puts out just on normal 3300 nimh thogouh,

I came back to Off road after like 12 years. Went to brushless (I hated all the motor work before...lol) and LOVE it. I am running the LRP/Reedy combo and it works sweet. I just wish Reedy would get a stock equivalent and I'd be set.

i had a novak supersport brushless in my xxx-t RTR. it ran great without any maintenance and the ESC never got very hot, tho id run for 20 minutes at a time. my dad uses brushed and he never gets the same performance out of his motor whenever he cleans or rebuilds it.
