if you have 4-500 to spend i would buy a new kit. the steps and innovations made since then are enormous. you can pick up a brand new rtr 8ight for 570 or the pro kit for 500 and transfer your engine electronics etc.

this goes for any buggy not just the eight there are a lot of good kits out there.

thanks for your input what are some kits you would suggest for around 300 (or less) up to 400?

you can get a xray xb8R for 349.00 its not the TQ edition but you can get the upgraded parts later.
Xray XB8R

i believe you can also get the hyper8 for around 400.00

i would personally spend an extra 100 and go with the losi 8ight. for 490.00

new designs new geometry. for example the losi the motor sits almost directly in the center of the chassis for perfect weight balance not to mention that it is super light. the shocks contain almost 2x more oil than any other 1/8th shock which means less work and your oil won't break down as fast. those are just some examples.

You can look at some used buggies. Here's a nice Hyper 8 roller with a JP-2 pipe for $250. These kits usually go for ~$400 new

There are always great deals out there. Just look around when you are ready. People change buggies like they change underwear.

Check your local track if you have one, check Ebay and the For sale/trade forums here on RCTech.
