Default brushless vs brushed for a 4wd buggy? which should i get?

i have a tamiya dark impact buggy. i am currently runnign a speedgems extreem 17t mod motor with a tekin rebel 2 speed control. it will keep up with my brothers new e-maxx easily and is real quick. i want to put a new motor in it though because i am using an older one from a different truck. i was debating between a good 9-10 turn modified racing motor (possibly team checkpoint because they last longer) and a mamba max brushless system. the brushless will cost about $45-50 more, but will last longer. which motor do you suggest to get?

Default It's easy, Wish I would have...

I'd say get a brushless motor, and esc. Novak sounds good.
Thing you need to do is make sure you get a brushless esc which will also run a brushed motor, and has a reverse lockout as well.

This way you can practice/play with the brushless, which require less maintenance, and race any class you choose, including stock.

Not so sure there is a stock 4wd class, but you get the idea.
Best of both worlds. Enjoy!

its open class so i can run the brushless system . i was goign to get a new brushed motor too though to run in my race truck so if i needed brushed i could put that into it. i was thinking more mamba max system because i have read nothing but good reviews on it and it is so programable. also, my chassis cant fit a Novak GTB ESC...... its real tight on space.

Several has fitted GTBs on their DF-03 chassis. You just need to remove the spacers between the fan and the heatsink and use the double sided tape that comes with the GTB.

I also had to change how the 3 wires were soldered to the motor and shaved some plastic off the left side of the blue wire mount tab and right side of orange wire mount tab

I race my DI with a GTB and 7.5R with 82T spur and 23T pinion.

I also use Novak Brushless systems on my Duratrax Evader BX Pro (GTB + 7.5R) and Evader ST Pro (GTB + SS5800) and had raced them for around 20 times each in a 10 month period. Never had any issues.

Here are pictures of how I mounted the GTB on my DI: GTB mount pics on DI

Yes the tires still balloon with a 7.5R but maybe not as bad as it can with a 4-star Neo brushless...

I have owned 2 x Losi XXX-4's and have run the Novak SS5800 in them with no problem.
You could go something stupid and different and get the new Trinity Brushless which is 3 Turn Equivalent

Cheers

i was thinking about waiting for the tekin rage brushless, but it sells for only $90 which really makes me wodner if the system is reliable and as good as others. i think i will probly go with the mamba
