Thanx again for the help with the other parts. I'm pretty new to RC & love racing off road, but enough about me. CRCRC will be closing for the season in May & I wanted to know if there are any other off-road tracks near-by that you know of.

Schumie: Here is a close up of the front of my XXX-4. I tried to upload it a few times over the weekend but the site kept crashing. Sorry about the size, It is as big as I could make it to fit within the upload size rules.

DKJ-M3: Dirt Country Raceway is in Blanchester, OH. It is about 20 minutes north east of the I-275 loop. The guys that come down from Columbus say it takes them about an hour to an hur and a half. I'm not sure the exact directions though. I run the computer at the track. We will begin racing in the next few weeks. We don't start until CRCRC shuts down.

BigDog: Shock correction on the XX4 setup. Front should be 7.7.0-20 and rear should be 55-35. If the track is really rough, you might try 55-30 in the rear.

Just thought I would let you XXX4 hopefulls know........

There is a pic of a XXX4 body on my website. I just painted it for Brian Dunbar to take to Africa for the worlds. All attending Team Losi drivers will have the "prototype" car. When the cat is out of the bag and Brian gets back, I will try to get you some close up pictures.

Bigdog - If you want to try a XX4 setup without the swaybar, go to 56-25 or 55-27.5 in the rear, pink springs, outside hole on the arm.

Yoshi - I wouldn't worry just yet. If they do finalize the design and decide to sell the car, it will still be end of the summer before you would see it.

The car rolls more than a XX4 and that is the major drawback. The front end was very fragile also, of course the XX4 was when it first came out also. The other issue was that they are worried about average drivers destroying front one-ways.

How do you destroy front oneways?

Because of the inconsistant traction on offroad surfaces, the oneway is constantly engauging and disengauging. The chattering can break belts and the outdrives. The fact that you can break traction in the rear, thus putting more load on the front also leads to breakage. In onroad, the front and rear tires are almost always rotating at the same rate. You generally don't dive on the brakes to whip a car around a 180 like you do in offroad. There is just less wear and tear on the oneway in a TC, and they still break them.

I had considered trying a XXX-S oneway in the front of my XX4 and was warned not to do it by Adam Drake. He said Losi tried it and had the problems listed above.

There are 3 options now in the front of a XX4-

Lock the clicker (full time 4wd) - Good for extremely slick tracks. Will cause the car to push under extreme braking.

Use clicker (adjustable one-way) - looser will make the car pivot quicker under braking, tighter will give more front brake and make the car more stable.

Oneway (from XXX-S) - Makes the car turn in very hard and accelerate out of the corner very hard. Will be slightly harder to drive and from what I understand, a lot harder on the drive train. (I haven't done it yet)

Hey Skip, I wonder if using the XX4WE plastic coupler thingys would soften the abuse that the Oneway receives from the front end? Maybe it would only take a little dampening to help it last a lot longer? I'm not running off road right now or I would try it. Too bad I didn't get enough interest from the XXX-S guys to put an aluminum XXX-S oneway into production. I had a design for one that basically looked like a Yok oneway, but worked with the XXX-S gear. I would have been able to stand up to quite a bit of abuse because we were going to use the next size up oneway bearings and possibly the new Yok HD oneway drive cups that fit the larger bearings..... oh well.

Phatz,
The picture is still there. Losi did not ask us to take it down.

Can someone help me with information on losi shock shafts.

I have a XXX that comes with 1.0 shock shafts, yet my LHS only has .9 shock shafts.

Are these compatible or were they for the XX?

Also any other information would be great with reguards to these shock shafts. I would get the Titanium nitride ones but the LHS doesnt have them either. They are kinda biased towards Associated so it is hard getting stuff sometimes.

Cheers

Paul
