O.S. .21 RG vrs. RZ vrs. VG?
O.S. .21 RG vrs. RZ vrs. VG?
Whats yours guy's thoughts on these engines? Any feedback on them. Trying to decide on what one to get. Local guys here have been running .21 in their truggies also, so I am planning on getting 2 of them backed with a JP-3 Pipe. Did the VG replace the RG/RZ then? Ben |

Ben They don't come with an air filter anymore, but they look like a LOT nicer motor than the RG and I really liked my RG. The only downside is that people won't be able to spot that you have a $100 motor from 25 yards away...LOL...gotta love the black, 8-bolt RG head that doesn't stick out of the body. :D |
We have a Minnesota and a Dakota Traveling Points Series here. Some of the top guys ran RG's and liked them. Were beating the guys with the 3300-400$ Picco, RB c5-c6's
Ya, the VG head looks pretty sweet now. But I wonder if it will have enough power for a truggie? I tend to put a JP-3 pipe on the VG in the Losi 8ight Buggy. With the 8ight Truggy though, maybe a JP-2 to get the RPM up. VG has alota low end grunt. |
The VG is a very good motor! Especially for the price!! (Around $150.00) Theres a driver at our track who just picked one up a week ago or so. And after breaking it in, he was running it (First time hard) last Saturday there with all of us mixing it up. (A Practice day) And he was keeping up with all of us (And passing a few) that were running V-Spec's. Now our track doesn't have any super long strait aways, where you can hammer the full throttle for any extended period of time where that raw HP really shows. But for a track that has a lot of low and med throttle blurps, that VG will shine's......
I see myself picking one up in the near furture..... |
Thats good to ehar about teh VG. Ya, they say the VG has alot of low-med power. So if your running a large track, a JP-2 Pipe would be good for the larger tracks. I plan on getting the JP-3 for all around tracks. Looks like a good buy. Ill be getting the brownish powdercaoted on. Gotta match the Losi 8ight Shock towers!

Think the .21 VG is a good choice for the 8ight-T also?
|
Sorry that I'm stupid.... But what is a JP pipe? Just getting into 1/8th scale and am looking to get the VG.
Thanks! Jason |
JP is the brand name, check out JP racing .com
dont feel silly ,we all started somewhere. If your just starting out, let me just say that JP is amazing quality. good luck!! :) |

Actually, the JP-series pipes are Ofna Jammin' products. Please see this link for details: http://www.jamminproducts.com/exhaust.html |
The new JP-3 would be an ideal choice for 8th buggy, even a truggy to, because the VG has low-med torque, so the truggy will get up and scoot quickly.
