GP 4300 will not perform as well as IB 4200, period. If your performance is lagging, it is not necessarily due to bad cells or poor matching, but simply a characteristic of the GP cell.

Team Orion sold the IB 3800, 4200, 4200 SHV and the IB 4200 WC. Why some think we don't sell the 4200 WC yet is a bit of a mystery.

Anyway, Team Orion continues to the the worldwide leader in matched battery technology. Using custom made testing and enhancement equipment with a very progressive R&D program, you will find no better batteries anywhere.

The problem with Orion is that by the time you buy them, they are not as "Factory fresh" as you want them to be.
I burnd my self with their 3300 team packs and late with the 3800 team packs later and what I learned is that - NEVER BUY ORION CELLS!!!!!!!!!
I dont know if Orion are the leaders in sales as told but I buy (along with my friends) 4200 cells from HK and match them myself and I'm very pleased as the are powerfull as they have very good lifespan.

I have 4 packs of GP4300 matched by Demon (UK matcher). These cells cost less than half the price of other packs available at the time I got them.

One pack was supplied with a 'bad' cell, but this was replaced FOC by Demon.
I have now been using these cells for about 6 months and they are going from strength to strength, really punchy and no run time issues at all.
I'm charging at 5.5amps (Orion Advantage,3mv per cell, linear charge, capacity set to 4500mah), once I have run the cells I just chuck them back in the box with whatever charge is left in them until the day before I next race. I them discharge at 10amps down to 6v and leave them till raceday. On raceday I put them on a Noval Smart Tray to bring them down to 0.9v per cell and then put them straight onto charge. I found this regime to really work well.

However I could be unique as it seems most matchers have now dropped GP4300 in favour if IB4200 - Matched GP4300 seem difficult to obtain now.

I heard that Orion sent out our new packs the other day. Hopefully we'll be getting them soon.

Just wanted to update things here...

We received our new battery packs from Orion on Monday. Thanks to Joe at orion for getting them out to us!!
They did send some very good IB4200's instead of the GP4300's, so I'm guessing their may be some problem with the GP cells??
I have since ran into another person at the races that had bought the GP4300's, and they weren't as "bad" as the packs that we had gotten, but they weren't doing as well as most of the 4200 cells by any stretch. He was doing well to get them to charge to capacity too, but his were closer than the ones we had gotten. He was getting in the low 4200mah range with his.
I believe that the problem here IS with the GP4300 cells, and not the Orion matching process. It's unfortunate, because both Orion and GP are very well known for putting out great products on a regular basis.
Anyway, thanks again to Joe Pillars and Team Orion for getting this taken care of for us!!! It's very much appreciated!

Case closed,
Brad

One last update...
Since I posted last, I have gotten all my packs put together and ran them, and they are AWESOME!
Orion sent us Peak Racing IB4200 world class cells, and they are definitely 5 times the packs the others were!!
My advice is to continue to buy and use Orion Products, but beware of the GP4300 cells...they aren't the best that GP has put out over the years...Orion came through and got us some replacement batts that were out of stock everywhere...Kudos!

Thanks, Brad
