Could this eventually benefit us?
I just thought I'd share something I found out about on another forum:
http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg0680.html Granted, this is probably well-known in the airplane circles, but I think it would be a nifty little design for cars as well: no more fussing with needles and bad tuning, better fuel mileage and no more busted throttle servos! |
We would stop ruining engines prematurely and the engine companies would sell less engines. They'll never sell us that!
Seems like a great idea and I'm sure we're headed that way but it is probably a long way off for engines as small as we run in cars. |

Granted, the OS unit I linked to is quite expensive (over a grand), but that's probably because it's new; hopefully it can trickle-down to something more reasonnable with time, and probably doesn't have to be as sophisticated for cars as for aircraft. We can only hope. |
I am certainly enjoying my brushless stuff. I don't know if I would run electric if it weren't for them. There is a neat thread in the onroad engines section about using 4 stroke engines in buggies and stadium trucks. I think that would be neat to explore along with fuel injection. It will happen eventually.

Thats not new at all, its been out 7-8 years.
|
I've been looking (And gaucking) at that for as long as I've been looking at the O.S. Website. It's not terribly new, and unfortunatly won't trickle into land based engines for a while yet.
|
that will probably make it to rc cars. it's a smart idea like running an ECU. it would be like when actual cars went from having only carberators to having millions of wire harnesses and a computer ecu for feul injection. next step O.S.12 tz with V-tec. haha

Vtec Honda's suck anyway, as do all other Honda's in general. :)
It'd be pretty funny to watch O.S. engineers try and stick their own expensive Vtec control computer on a 2 stroke engine with no cams to control. |

Wow, youre ignorant. Let me guess "american muscle all the way" I do not own a Honda, nor do I plan on ever owning one, but they do not suck. The Civic SI, Type R, and S2000 are all very capable performers in their respective categories. |
