The JConcepts BJ4-WE manual provides information for gearing of a 3 Star:
16T Pinion
78T Spur
12.19:1 Final Ratio

I also noticed on the LRP website that they only mention the Neo 1 & 2 Star motors for off road use.
When I called LRP tech. support they said that the web site should be changed and many customers use 3 Star motors for 4wd off road use.

I also checked with JConcepts before buying the 3 Star and they said the drive train in the BJ4-WE would handle down to a 4 Star without any issue.

It is FAST! And neither the ESC or motor don't over heat.

thast cool. i was thinking 2wd. cause something that fast would be impossible to control in a 2wd buggy or race truck. im sure its fast. imagine it with a 4 star. haha. i mean i know someone who put a 2 star in a race truck
and it was more then he could handle so i figured in a buggy it wouldnt be much different. and i dont know much about the JConcept cars so if its 4wd im sure it could handle it. but not overheating on such a high gaer ratio? fans and a heatsink or something?

I would think that a 3 Star would do back flips in 2wd truck/buggy.

No fan, no heat sink, small vent holes in front of the motor and ESC (the body was not hogged-out).
Just the recommended gear ratio and making sure that the drive line runs smooth (check bearings, etc....).

Our track www.sidsraceway.com is off road electric only.
But, I did have a change to race at another track last month where they had electric and nitro running on the same track (in different classes at different times) and to give you an idea:
Electric 4wd turned 27-30 laps
Nitro 4wd turned 24-25 laps

Since it was a tight technical track the electrics had a huge torque advantage.
