kyosho 777 STR diff shimming

i'm sure this has been discussed before, but i can't find the thread.....so what is the best way to shim the front diff? i've stripped a few rings and pinions trying to get it right.

Place shims on the ring gear side until there is very little to no backlash. Do not use shims on the pinion gear.
