Default Sportwerks Turmoil Pro vs Hyper 8 Pro Buggy, Race quality?

For next year I am already thinking about what vehicle to get for 1/8 scale buggy and I am interested in the Turmoil Pro ARR version as I have heard some good things about it and the engine it comes with.

Has anyone raced this competitively and can comment on it?

how well does it compare to say the Hyper 8 pro?

Those two appear to be my choices for now for what you get and the cost, though this may change in the future depending on what comes from AE.

Default The Turmoil Buggy is good

I would go with the Turmoil buggy, it can compete with any buggy on the market.

2006 Panther Products Nitro Off-Road Challenge at JCPRC.

1 Adam Drake

2 Matt Gosch

3 Justin Wheeler

4 Derek Weatherholt *Sportwerks Turmoil (My 12 yr old son is the driver)

5 Jeremy Black

6 Mike Battaile

7 Alan Burton

8 Brandon Hogan

9 Andrew Smolnick

10 Chad Morrell

11 Jason Ashton

12 Kevin Wilson

As Brian said the car is more than capable of competing at any level. There was some serious competition at this race. Derek and Brian have been real fast with the car this year.

I have both buggies . I race both and I can tell a big difference between the two . The H8 is more responsive and lighter along with a lot more tuning options than the Turmoil .
Both are very durable and excellent racers but I prefer the H8 as it has more options, light , and I can get around the track smoother and faster than the Turmoil .

Thanks for the info. Where do you feel that the Turmoil is overwieght at? Does it have more alloy parts compared to the hyper 8?

Anyone else have both or have raced with both?

It doesn`t really have any more alloy parts . I never took both apart to weigh each part either . I do know the H8 is around 7lbs 6oz , my Turmoil is about 8lbs 11oz . You can feel the difference trying to drive both in the same day .

Thanks for the info. Did you have the Turmoil with the .21 in it? how would you say that engine is compared to say an OS RG?

The Sportwerks .21 performs better and has more power which some tracks is not the best choice , but the RG engine is a great durable engine that will do good on small to med tracks . You can`t go wrong with either as they both are good engines and will last a long time .

What is S-Grid? I'd love to find a place to pick people's brains about the Sportwerks cars...
