Default Which guage wire for battery?

I am currently building a Kyosho Mini Inferno with a mamba 8000 and some other goodies, I am putting the batteries together and I am running low on wire. I was wondering if running on 12 guage wire connecting the negative sides of the saddle pack, then the stock I think 16 or 18 guage wire connecting to the deans plug? Only temporary until I get some 14 guage wire. I was wondering if that would work ok, because of the different currents and such. Thanks

If you can notice a difference, move over Cavalieri...
