Default Team Orion Advantage Charger?

I recently purchased a Team Orion Advantage charger, and was looking for some input on settings. I'm charging 3800 NimH batteries. I have been using the normal charge mode and it appears the charger automatically stops when it reaches 3800mh. My Reedy Quasar Pro would charge until it detected a peak usually over 4000mh. I know there are other charging modes, I'm just not too sure how they work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Set the capacity higher than the cell capacity. 3800s will be fine with the charger set at 4500. With this setitng they will shut off when they peak rather than at the stated capacity.

When charging IB3800 batteries on the Team Orion Advantage Charger set the charger to Ni-Mh.

Then like Rick said, set the Mah Capacity to more than the label on the battery. I always set my charger to 5000.

Lastly, leave the charger mv/setting at 3mv/cell. This is what it comes stock from the factory.

Setting the mah capacity higher on the charger will allow the batteries to peak off when they reach 3mv/cell.

Hope this helps,
JP

Thanks for the help guys. The battery seems to be taking a better charge now. One other question, I have head that the step charging mode is the best. Is this true and how does it work? Thanks Again.

step charging is the way to go with gp's but a linear (normal) is the best option for ib's. Hope this helps.

cheers

Charge your IBs at 5 amps linear and you will get the best results.

As for power supply, anything 12v, for 2 chargers (charging @ 5amps) a 10+ amp power supply should cover it. I would suggest getting some buffer though as the more the merrier. ie, you could want to add a motor checker later on or something like that. I also highly suggest Rivergate power supplies. I bought a 30amp Rivergate Bulldog over 3 years ago, never an issue (I race like 3 times a week), and I know many people who have had Rivergates for 10-15+ years without any issues. Just my .02

I ordered mine through my LHS. They are available through Horizon Hobby and any hobby shop worth its salt has a Horizon Account.

Yeah, not a problem. I have run 4 chargers and a motor check at once without issues at all.
