baking my motor, advice needed

baking my motor, advice needed
Q#1
I have an xx4. I have baked my 15t orion sv2 and although it smelled hot after racing it, this time in smelled really bad and just slowly stoped working. I need some advice.
What motor should I use (and with what pinion?),
I have
5800 brushless
orion 15t
speed gem 13t
trinity 93 11t (these aren't working well for some reason)
the straight at the track is 100' long and it's technical with one big double and it's rough!!
Q#2
We drive on a hard pack, rough track in Toronto and it seems that after about 1 week of consistent running my xx4 has quite a bit of friction. its this common? I am finding that there is a slite squeeling sound from one of the berings in the back. when I let off the trigger, it doesn't glide as well as it used to.
anyway
sincere thanks in advance for the help.
Sean

Adjust your timing. Generally you want to keep your timing under 12 degrees in mod.

Get a temp gun and do some testing and make sure the motor stays under 170.

What pinion are you running now?

Have you ever had the motors rebuilt? New brushes, comm trued?

one thing I found with xx4 is how free the drive train is. if you have tightened the covers and bulkheads down too far it can cause the bearing to pinched. If you have access to a way to drive the motor in car with a amp reading do this. (turbo 30)
test motor of choice at 2volts free spin for 30 sec with pinion on.
install motor against spur setup as you would normally, now hook up turbo 30 set at 2 volts let run for 30 seconds check your amp draw. this is the best way to check your drive train to see how free it is. I found the the front and rear bulk heads were too tight causing a 10amp difference at 2 volts. I loosened the screws as little as 1/8 to 1/4 turn and the amp draw went down. this made a huge difference with motor temp and runtime. your problem may be with the car especially if you smoked the motor.
check all your bearing also make sure they are clean and spin freely it only take 1 or 2 bearings to cause a issue.
